No slow down for Nissan, sales up by 328%

When Indian auto market is going through a year-long slow down, Japanese car major Nissan is happily enjoying its rocketed sales figures in the country. When auto giants like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai are facing a the heat of slow down with dipped sales figures and offering huge discounts across their range of models in India, Nissan has registered a sky high 328% up in sales!

Its recently launched brand Datsun is giving Nissan a happier time. Datsun Go, Nissan’s budget car is doing remarkably well in terms of sales figures against already established Hyundai Eon and Maruti Suzuki Alto 800. Datsun Go offers much more space, style and features than its competitors at a modest price making it a preferred option in the segment. Maruti Suzuki is planning the facelift of Alto 800 to compete with the newly introduced car. Go alone is reportedly carrying Nissan’s 50 percent sale.

Huge success of its Terrano SUV, Micra hatchback and Sunny sedan is contributing majorly to the Nissan’s wondrously high sales figures. Nissan has outdone its last year performance in terms of sales. The company has sold a massive 5301 cars in April alone this year in comparison to just 1239 cars in April last year.

Interestingly, the launch of new Sunny sedan is around the corner and Nissan is expected to get even higher sales then. To further strengthen its Indian presence, Nissan is planning to launch the Datsun Do after the ongoing success of Datsun Go. Do is Nissan’s budget sedan recently launched specifically in Russia.

Nissan recently ousted Maruti Suzuki to become the second largest car exporter in India with 330,000 units exported till date since its Indian launch in 2005. Nissan offers a decent range of models in India including Nissan Micra, Nissan Sunny, Nissan Terrano SUV, Nissan Evalia and Nissan Teana.
