Honda Mobilio set for a July launch
Economic price, better mileage and more space are few things required to capture the Indian car market. Japanese car major Honda is working extensively towards it. The quality vehicle manufacturer will most probably launch its much awaited Mobilio MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) in July this year. The economically priced Mobilio offers huge space to compete with Maruti’s Ertiga in the segment.
Being manufactured at company’s Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh plant, Mobilio is based on the extended version of Brio hatchback. The 4.4 meters long MPV will provide enough space inside. Comfortable for seven adults with three seating rows, Mobilio perfectly fits in the Indian family car picture. The compact MPV sports a sharp front and extended rear.
Honda Mobilio will be available in both petrol and diesel engines. Equipped with a 1.5-litre engine and 5-speed manual transmission, Mobilio diesel is expected to return a remarkably well fuel efficiency of 25kmpl. Its petrol variant might get a CVT automatic transmission. Honda uses the same engine in its Amaze and City sedan which is already very successful in the market.
Just like all Honda cars, Mobilio promises to make a place for itself in the competitive Indian car market on the grounds of quality, performance and design. The luxuriously designed MPV will have a direct competition from Maruti Ertiga which is already a running success in the segment. It’ll also compete with Mahindra Xylo, Mahindra Quanto and Chevrolet Enjoy in terms of price.
Mobilio MPV is expected to cost around Rs 6.2 lakh (Delhi). Honda is known to manufacture quality and performance oriented vehicles across the globe and the smartly designed MPV is expected to carry the legacy ahead.
Mobilio marks Honda’s entry into the MPV segment in India. The car was earlier showcased at this year’s Delhi Auto Expo in February. Honda has been reportedly studying the Indian MPV market for quite some time now. The company claims that Mobilio is a researched product and will redefine the MPV segment in the country. Mobilio made its first global appearance at Indonesia International Motor Show in September last year.
