Mercedes-Benz S350 CDI comes to India on June 5
Luxury cars segment is set for a new high as German car major Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will launch the diesel version of new S-Class in India on June 5. The popular luxury car maker will launch the locally assembled S350 CDI sedan in the first week of next June. The company has already started bookings for the luxury car along with new GLA compact SUV.
The new luxurious sedan from M-B’s S-Class carries an oomph design. The S350 CDI sports a sharp front with angular headlights and chrome grills. Sharp edgy lines on sides and designer taillights at the rear make it classically appealing.
The S350 CDI carries a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine which generates a power of around 255bhp and a peak torque of 620Nm. The new S-Class sedan has got a 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission which promises to give a luxuriously comfortable ride. Except engine, the S350 CDI is expected to carry almost all the features of its elder sibling S500.
The luxury sedan will feature the plain leather upholstery instead of nappa and the Burmester sound system will come with 3D surround sound system. The S500 features two individual seats at the rear but S350 CDI has full rear seat. Like S500, the S350 CDI won’t feature the chilling and heating cupholders, tables with centre armrest for the rear passengers and 360-degree reversing camera. Mercedes-Benz is expected not to offer the night-vision package with the new S-Class sedan as well.
The S350 CDI, equipped with luxurious features, offers a huge space inside. It’s comfortable for 5 adults. The luxury sedan can be booked with an amount of Rs. 5 lakh. Mercedes-Benz is expected to commence deliveries in July. The all new S350 CDI sedan is expected to cost around Rs. 1.25 crore. It’ll compete with Audi A8 (Rs. 1.12 crore), Jaguar XJ 3.0 (Rs. 92.1 lakh) and BMW 730Ld (Rs. 1.0 crore) in the segment.
M-B has also started bookings for its GLA 220 CDI SUV for an amount of Rs. 50,000. The compact SUV carries a 2143cc diesel engine good for 167bhp. The luxury SUV made appearance at this year’s Delhi Auto Expo in February. Based on the front wheel drive MFA platform, the GLA 220 CDI will compete with Audi Q3 in the segment. Deliveries are expected to happen in the festive season later this year.
