Mark Fields named Ford CEO, Alan Mulally retires

Alan Mulally, 68, Ford’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for eight years, will be retired this June to name Mark Fields, current Chief Operating Officer (COO) as the new CEO of the company. Mulally’s last working day at Ford as CEO will be June 1, 2014. And right after a month on July 1, Fields will be officially named as the new President and CEO of the historical car company.

Born on Aug, 1945 in California, Alan Roger Mulally joined the Ford Motor Company in 2006 as CEO. He succeeded William Clay Ford Jr, the current Executive chairman of the Board of Directors. Engineer by profession, Mulally’s reign as Ford CEO was highly appreciated. Under Mulally’s leadership, Ford saw its profit days after going through an economic crisis that shacked the American automobile industry. He started his career as an engineer at Boeing. Mulally as Ford’s CEO holds the record of 19 consecutive profitable quarters.

Mark Fields, 53, who is currently working as COO joined Ford 25 years ago. After being announced as the new CEO, Fields said that it’s a great honor to lead this company and the talented team. Fields earlier has worked as Vice-President and President of Ford’s American unit. Fields also have worked on Ford’s major European and independent Argentinean operations.

Founded by Henry Ford in 1903, Ford is America’s one of the oldest car companies. The company has its dealerships across the globe. Ford has offered innumerable number of car models over the years and its today’s vast range of models includes legendary Ford Mustang, Ford Figo, Ford Fiesta, Ford Endeavour, Ford EcoSport, Ford 500, Ford Ka etc.
