San Cars in India

With the coming of Liberalization in 1991, India suddenly became the favorite choice for global automobile producers. This was the moment in history when an indigenous convertible, built on the lines of sports car, was born. San Storm, a two-seat sports car, was introduced in 1998 which has had till date maintained its mixture of thrill and luxury in Indian market.
The car has the name of world famous Le Mans Group (France) attached to it as its manufacturer. However, as the sales saw a dip in recent times, the production was halted for few years but still it has maintained its market place in India, Nepal, Cyprus, Malta, Bermuda and the UK.
San cars are not available much in India. In fact, the only product available under this brand is the Storm. This 1150 cc engine machine gives an average of 16 km/ltr and comes at an interesting price of Rs. 5.95 lakh. Although this car brought the indigenous convertible to the newly liberalized country, it never could really make it in the market. With sales not picking up, the brand could not make inroads into the domestic automobile market, which were to be soon flooded by both local and foreign manufacturers. Perhaps San was an idea whose time had still not come.
