VW polo hits the Indian Market with a sway

Europe’s largest car producer, Volkwagen’s, much awaited hatchback, Polo, is all set to hit the Indian market in the first week of march. This hatchback, seized the eyes of plenty, when divulged at the Delhi Auto Expo, 2010.
Polo will be available in 7 variants, which includes, both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variant, will include in its pocket, 1.2L and 1.6L engines, while, the diesel variant would include a 1.2L engine. Powered by the 1.2L, 1198cc, 3 Cylinder with five speed manual transmission gearbox, this engine can produce 75PS of maximum power at 5400rpm and 110Nm of maximum torque at 3750rpm. With an exorbitantly high power and performance, this hatchback can touch 100kmph in just 14.2 seconds, delivering a mileage of 13.2kmpl on city roads and 18.3 on highways. There are three variants available with a 1.2L engine – Petrol Tredline, Petrol Comfortline and Petrol Highline, these vary, minutely, in terms of accessories and add-ons. The 1.6L engine, which is a sports model of the Volkwagen Polo, is powered by the high capacity, 1598cc, 4-cylinder petrol engine, with five speed manual transmission gearbox. Thus, producing a maximum power of 105PS at 5250rpm with 153Nm of maximum torque at 3750rpm. This high capacity engine, offers tremendous acceleration, crossing 100kmph in just 11.1 seconds, touching a top speed of 182kmph, while delivering a mileage of 12.1kmpl on city roads and 17.2kmpl on highways.
The diesel variants, on the other hand, are loaded with 1.2L, 1199cc, 3-Cylinder diesel engine that produces 75PS of maximum power at 4200rpm along with 180Nm of maximum torque at 2000rpm. Though, the acceleration is less, as compared to the petrol versions, it delivers a higher mileage of 15.5kmpl on city roads and 22.6kmpl on highways.
With a sleek exterior, body colored bumpers and door handles, a dashing front grille and a dual tone dash board, the new polo is a bold styling statement. VW Polo is being produced at company’s Aurangabad plant in India. The car has high level of localization which keeps the car competitively priced.

Eagerly waiting for this car, hope this car launches on time (March 2010) within a range of 5lakhs. However I wonder how effecient it would be with a 3 cylinder output.
