Gear up to experience the all new Skoda Yeti

skoda_yeti_indiaThe international best-seller Skoda Yeti, which was formerly unveiled at the 10th Auto Expo, 2010, shall hit the Indian market in June this year. Equipped by a long suspension with high ground clearance for a smooth and comfortable ride, Yeti is packed with the brakes and transmission of Skoda Roomster along with the suspension of Skoda Fabia.

Skoda, initially, plans to launch the SUV in two variants – 1.2L and 1.8L petrol engines and a 2.0L turbo-diesel engine. Depending upon the response of Indian customers the company shall launch more variants.

6 – speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmission is available in the 1.2L, 1197cc, Turbo Charged, DOHC petrol engine producing 104.7 PS at 5000rpm and 175Nm of maximum torque at 1500~3500rpm, offering a mileage of 12.7kmpl on normal city roads whereas on highways the mileage can go up to 17.2kmpl. In contrast, the 1.8L, 1798 cc, turbo charged, DOHC petrol engine with power of 160PS at 4500~6200rpm along with the maximum torque of 250Nm at 1500~4500rpm.. With a 6-speed manual transmission and 4WD (Four Wheel Drive), this variant shall offer a mileage of 9.9kmpl on city roads while on highway it can offer a mileage of 14.5kmpl.

The diesel variant, shall be available in both 2WD (Two-Wheel Drive) and 4WD (Four-Wheel Drive) option. The 2WD would be powered by the 2.0L, 1968cc, Turbo Charged diesel engine with 5-speed manual transmission offering a mileage of 14.8kmpl on city roads while on highway it would offer a mileage of 19.2kmpl. The 4WD engine will be powered by the same engine, the only difference being, the 6-speed manual transmission, resulting in a slightly lower mileage of 12.6kmpl on city roads and 17.2kmpl. Both the diesel variants shall produce a maximum power of 110PS at 4200rpm with 250Nm of maximum torque at 1500~2500rpm.

Distinctly styled, yet so obviously Skoda, Yeti, has pleased customers across the globe and is all set to continue the excellent track record in India as well. This compact, 4×4 SUV, is expected to range between 10 – 13 lakh
