Since the 1990's a steady demand of automobiles has led to a tremendous growth in the auto component manufacturing industries in India. In the recent years, great advancement has been observed in terms of growth and inclusion of modern technologies in this sector. With the coming of international automotive giants from Japan, Korea, US and Europe to the Indian shores, this industry has been through many transformations and in the process has evolved as a more mature industry meeting the needs of modern-day automotives.
Furthermore, this evolution has helped India to carve a niche for itself in the global automotive

supply chain industry and has surely established itself as a dark horse in the world map.

This is also one of India's fastest growing manufacturing sectors dominated by over 500 key contenders. As a result, approximately 85% of the total production comes from these small manufacturers which again employ many people and play the role of providing the daily bread and butter to thousands of people.

In this age of outsourcing, the automotive component manufacturing sector of India has also caught the eye of the International players and is doing a brisk business by providing technologically advanced and cost-effective (25% to 30% cheaper than the Western counterparts) products along with a good supply chain network that is helping this industry to grow manifold.
At the heart of the auto component manufacturing industry of India is the Automotive Component Manufacturers' Association of India (ACMA). This organization deals with promoting trade, technology upgradation, quality enhancement and collection and dissemination of information. Apart from this, the continuous support from the Indian government in allowing foreign investments and providing the manufacturers with the required infrastructure seems to be helping the automobile component manufacturing industry in a big way to achieve its goals.
