| 'This car was launched as a millennium car simultaneously in the continents of South America, Africa and Asia. It was available in two variants one sporting a 1.4 liter engine and another with a 1.6 liter one. Both the variants are controlled by an intelligent micro processor controlled Multi Port Fuel Injected Engines. The 1.4 liter engine can rake up about 88 PS while the more powerful 1.6 liter engine can deliver nearly 92 PS. The cars have been aggressively priced to attract the customers and the base version of the Corsa comes with air-conditioning, central locking, remote fuel and trunk opening.
Like the Astra this car also has different safety features in place like power steering and central locking. |
|
There are other critical safety features like collapsible steering column, anti-submarine seats to protect the passengers. The car is also provided with anti jamming doors which facilities rescuing of passengers in the eventuality of an accident. The car has been designed specifically keeping the Indian market in mind and aims to provide that extra space that the Indian car buyer looks for. In terms of comfort the car is provided with McPherson struts front suspension and compound torsion beam rear suspension to handle the rough and tough roads of the country.
However the future of this car in this country looks bleak as more cars have entered this segment and its direct competitors like Maruti Esteem and Ford Ikon have Revamped themselves to appeal to the customers.
It can be said without much difficulty that this car will see a natural death in the country in the time to come.
