Maruti Udyog was renamed as Maruti Suzuki India Limited, after its collaboration with Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan, has been selling the largest volume of private cars in India for quite some time now. The Indian car industry was thrown open to the car competition in the late 1990s and ever since it is growing at a robust pace. We saw Santro car launched by the South Korean car maker Huyndai. Daewoo in 1988 soon followed this trend and launched their car Matiz. And more recently, Tata motors has bedazzled the world, with the launch of Nano the cheapest car in the world.
