The Grand Theft Auto 3 is a three dimensional game with a massive imaginary city to explore, gangs to fight and nearly 45 cars to drive.
The game is dark and dangerous and definitely not suited for the kids, the players take on the familiar role of low level thugs in the game and they must work their way up the ladder to be rewarded with new jobs, better weapons and more access to the city. cars and vehicles also help in differentiating the various parts of the city, and they come in different forms. Every vehicle in the game is drivable and players have a huge array of vehicles at their disposal to choose from namely traditional sedans, minivans, taxis, ambulances, ice cream trucks and police cars. These vehicles resemble Ferrarris and Lotuses and even water based crafts such as ships and boats.
There are forty five cars in all with four or five variations which make for quite a spectacle.
The cars are totally destructible and are made of seventeen sections and each section can take damage. The damage affect the way the car can be driven, and it can last as long as the engine is not damaged. If the engine catches fire and smoke comes out the cars, it is likely to blow up.
These cars come with their own source of entertainment as each car one highjacks or takes plays a different set of tunes from its radios be in country, hip hop or techno. These radio stations are filled with the usual quota of jokes, fictitious commercials and cocky humor.
The game is an interesting mix of crime, adventure and cars.
