Auto Designing

Transportation in India has always been technology driven with little or no thought given to the end user. Cultural as well regional considerations have been undermined when it comes to designing of the cars. For a long time there were only the Ambassador and the Fiat which were running on the Indian roads. Even though they were ugly, they still used to be considered as status symbols. During that time the cars had undergone little or no change in terms of design, but with the opening up of the economy, car design has undergone a sea change in the country.

Various car models in the country have under gone thorough or cosmetic change, keeping the consumer in mind.

Maruti has changed the design of its old war horse Zen and are in the process of giving it an ultimate face lift sometimes this year.

Similarly Hondahas been working on its flagship brand City and has changed the design of the car since it was first launched in the country.
This has even prompted Hindustan Motors to change the design of the age old Ambassador to give that classic look to the car.

The basic need of an automobile design is to make the car aero dynamic and the designers have to make space for the engine and its related elements, no matter what they want to do with the design.

Since cars reflect the personal value and characteristics of its owners, after a point of time it just does not remain as a mode of transport but becomes an extension of the personality

Such a consideration has prompted the National School of Design to start a course in Transportation and automobile Design.

If exclusivity is what you are looking for then there are quite a few choices available to you, the best among them is Dilip Chhabria (DC) who can add persona to the car. He can make a car look, macho, sweet, cute or sexy depending on the needs of a customer.

The customer has a couple of choices at their disposal, he or she can go for a complete make over, which will involve retaining the engine and chassis of a car and building a new car altogether.

The customer can also opt for some cosmetic changes in the bumper, mudguard, headlights, taillights, bonnet, wheels, and the interiors to make the car stand out in the crowd.

However like all good things in life, the redesigned cars also come with a hefty price tag, sometimes a complete overhaul could cost the amount one pays for the brand new version or even more.

DC claims with all humbleness that he caters to a very niche Audience, those who want to make their cars speak loads about their personalities.
